NBA Draft Prospects: In the Mix

This season we’ve witnessed a whole lot of amazing (Can’t get the song out of your head can you?) and we’re already anxious to see what’s in store for 2009-2010. Ready for some fresh faces in the NBA? They are probably just as eager as we are, for them to join the elite, the ranks of pro-status, shed their cocoons and become full-fledged bonafide NBA rookies. The draft is set for June 25, 2009 at 7PM (EST) and the lottery has already designated the Clippers, Grizzlies, and Thunder, 1st, 2nd, 3rd pick, respectively. Until then, get to know some of these top talented NBA draft prospects and peep them in the mix. If you don’t know, now you know.

Blake Griffin

Power Forward
He’s a shoe-in for first pick. Will Clippers go with anyone other than this wham-bam-thank-you banger on the inside?
Strengths: Points, boards, inside game
Needs Work: Defense, FT%

Ricky Rubio

Point Guard
Those Europeans know how to play. Ricky’s not an exception, he’s gifted in understanding the game, has no fear driving down the lane, and is just an overall good ball-handler.
Strengths: Handles, experimental dimes
Needs Work: Weak Perimeter shooting, tempo

Hasheem Thabeet

Center
You’re invited to Hasheem’s block party. A 7’3 addition will benefit any team in the paint, but this one in particular will be a defensive reward.
Strengths: Blocked shots, boards, defense
Needs Work: Offensive game, post-up skills

Brandon Jennings

Point Guard
Watch out world, Brandon’s pumped and ready to go! He’s played in Europe to gain some extra experience and add to his fiery style of play.
Strengths: Lightning quick on Offense and Defense, explosive attack moves and finishes.
Needs Work: Perimeter shooting, shot selection

James Harden

Shooting Guard
Harden’s a fine balance of talent, able to score and lead and be a team player and facilitate, a lot of potential here.
Strengths: Three pointers, steals, rebounds, assists
Needs Work: Control under pressure

Stephen Curry

Shooting Guard
Former NBA player, Dell Curry’s son, leads us to wonder if three-point shooting skills run in the family? Stephen’s quick-footed and a consistent scorer drains it on his opponents.
Strengths: Quick release shooter
Needs Work: 6’2 small for his position, and adjustment to PG position

DeMar DeRozan

Shooting Guard
He scores and he’s physically built for the game. He plays well off the glass, moves fluidly with leaps and bounds.
Strengths: Athleticism
Needs Work: Maximize his potential, focus

Jordan Hill

Power Forward
Hill is a potentially decent power forward, showing great effort on defense, rebounding and blocks.
Strengths: Ideal build for PF, consistent midrange player
Needs Work: Struggles under defensive pressure, weak on the offense, FT%

Tyreke Evans

Shooting Guard
Aggressor on the inside, deft enough on offensive moves, and off the dribble.
Strengths: Aggressive offense
Needs Work: Inconsistent shot, needs to step up his D.

Eric Maynor

Point Guard
Hard not to like Maynor, he’s got the effort, speed, and will surprise you, don’t underestimate him.
Strengths: Shooting Percentage, steals, smart dimes
Needs Work: Shooting form

Who’s your favorite prospect to jump out and shine soon in the NBA?

lets go Clippers! Please take Griffin! Well…they ARE going to take Griffin…but what worries me is what they’ll do with it. keep it and trade other pieces? or trade him off to bring in talent. PLEASE KEEP!!!
