6 Ugly Jumpshots in the NBA

Let this be a lesson to all aspiring basketball players – do not mimic the jump shots of the following professional NBA basketball players.

Some of these players are former All-Stars. Some even shoot a decent percentage from the field. But when it comes to shooting form – they look downright ridiculous, disgusting, and verging on frightening. Even Freddy Kruger gets nightmares watching.

Shawn Marion

The poster boy for ugly shots. Shawn Marion’s jump shot should be a crime. He shoots with his elbows out, the ball in front of his chin, releases below his shoulders and it is all shot with a flick of his wrists.

Marcus Camby

If you ever go to a game and watch Camby play, you can hear and see the fans cringe everytime Camby shoots the ball. Not only are his arms crooked but the basketball goes behind his head like he preparing for a magic trick. Then it’s as if he catapults the ball instead of shooting it. Stick to defense Marcus.

Kenyon Martin

Keyon Martin was never a good shooter. Like Camby, he should stick to his defense and engery. When he shoots the ball it looks like he is shooting with both hands, his arms goes in all sorts of random directions and it looks like he is tapping his feet as if he is Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz wanting to go back home.

Andre Miller

Holy release point batman. Miller not only keeps the ball up high when he is about to shoot, he keeps it there for his release. It doesn’t help that it looks like he gets 2 cm off the ground. Wouldn’t it be easier to just jump a little higher and lowering your release point?

Kevin Martin

Kevin Martin actually has a pretty good jump shot and will be a scoring force in the league for years to come. The problem is the awkwardness leading up to the shot. He is like a poor man’s Marcus Camby when setting up for a shot. One difference – he can actually shoot.

Ronnie Brewer

Did you watch the Playoffs? Eyes were winching everytime Brewer took a shot. Not only does it look ugly but it doesn’t even go in. The Lakers left him wide open most of the time and dared him to shoot.

Honorable Mention: Tayshaun Prince, Leonardo Barbosa, Joakim Noah

Hands down, the Matrix wins this one. If only Marcus Camby shot as well as he rebounded, he could be an all-star!
